Flashback Friday: Rodeo Time

Since rodeo season is upon us, I thought I'd flashback to my "western" outfit.  I think I am 4 or 5 years old.  So, so long ago! ;)

First mani/pedi

For Christmas, Brandon gave me (and the big girls) a gift certificate for a mani/pedi at a spa just down the street.  I wasn't sure how the girls were going to do, but they were great and loved almost everything. ;)

They go to pick their colors...
and of course, Meredith chose purple.

Waiting for it to start - and super happy!
They were not a fan of the soaking water (it had lemons and herbs in it), but really liked the girl that did their nails.  Meredith did so much better than she ever does when I trim her nails!
I don't have too many photos during the manicure because I was having mine.  But, here they are all finished with part 1!

I think they really enjoyed the pedicures!  Big, soft chairs and soft pillows, plus they had real glasses of water that they thought was really cool.  They were so careful with their nails during this time so that they wouldn't get messed up.

All finished and waiting for our nails to dry.  Meredith calls nail polish "po-nailish".  As in, "I like your po nailish, mommma."  It's really cute and I love to hear her say it.
That was super fun!  I don't think I had my first manicure until I was engaged, but times change, right?! ;)

So much for blogging...

Well, so much for blogging a lot more in 2015!  It's been two weeks!  As always, life happened and time got away from me.  And it's not like I don't have things to blog about - with three little girls there is ALWAYS something to blog about.  Plus three weeks ago, a couple of friends and I decided to bite the bullet and plan the father/daughter banquet at church so it wouldn't get post-poned.  I love planning parties but I'm not used to such a fast schedule (2 1/2 weeks).  I'm used to mulling over ideas and thinking about them for a while.  Not to mention the size of the party being much bigger than my typical (72 RSVP's).  However it went well and everyone had fun!  It was Mackenzie and Brandon's first year to go and they had a great time.  In just 4 short years, Brandon will be taking all three girls!

Anyways, "life" also includes turning 35 in two days!  I'm not sure why, but 35 seems to be a little harder for me to swallow than 30.  For me, 30 was not a big deal - just another birthday.  But 35 makes me feel old. ;)  I know it's not, but that's how I feel.  I think it's bumming me out a little bit and I haven't felt like blogging too much.

Mackenzie is home today for a mental health day, plus she's pretty snotty and congested.  She was just way too emotional this morning and I could tell it wasn't going to be a good day if she went to school.  I never really thought I'd want to homeschool until the last year or two.  On days like today, when it's cold and rainy and we don't have to go outside, it makes me want to homeschool even more.  Not to mention how happy all us girls are just being together when we aren't tied to pick ups and drop off all day.  Brandon is probably laughing at that last sentence because he came home to a not so happy me last night crying because the girls were driving me crazy with their arguing and crying.  But yesterday is one of our hard days - two girls in two separate schools with two separate drop offs and two separate pick ups.  It's hard on everyone.  But today, we are good and are happy and enjoying each others' company.  We'll be doing our own school lessons in a few minutes - Meredith finishing our letter D unit and Mackenzie doing a Kindergarten printable pack I found.  Again, homeschooling would be awesome, but we aren't quite ready to jump.

Since I've been a little bummy lately, I've also been working on planning our summer activities.  I know - it's February, but that's what I do.  I like to have an idea of what we are going to do or else we'll just be sitting inside everyday because I have nothing planned.  We have our typical things we want to do - neighborhood pool once a week, church playgroup once a week, lunch out, Noah's Ark Pool...But we also have some new ones we want to do - Blue Bell Factory and added by Mackenzie yesterday, melted crayon art.  Anyways, lots of fun to be had in 11 short weeks!

So, that's what has been going on.  I'll do my best to blog again tomorrow!

Before Church...again!

Remember when I posted pictures of the girls before church a couple of weeks ago?  The weekend of that post, I managed to have a few minutes for pictures in their matching dresses.  This is what happens when I try to get pictures of all three girls!

First, Mackenzie insisted I take her picture with her picture she received from the tooth fairy ("pictures of her friends").  So there's that.
Two looking at me, but one of the is blurry and the other is turned backwards.  The one good smile is looking at someone else. :/

Now no one is looking at me!
Again, no one.
One talking, one moving and one looking at me, but doing her weird arm pose. ;)

No words.

At this point I'm just taking pictures while I continue to say, "just stand at the fireplace for one more picture, please".  Over and over.

We end with Mackenzie chasing Miranda around trying to get her back to the fire place and Meredith refusing to turn around and look at the camera!  One day I will get all three to smile and look at me at the same time!

Preschool with Meredith - Week 7

Why does life with three kids get so crazy?! ;)  I've had these school picture of Meredith edited for over a week and am finally sitting down to blog!  Anyways, we learned about our 5th and final vowel a few weeks ago - letter U!

Bible:
Our bible story was about Joseph and his coat of many colors and his brothers.  I found these cute printables from Deb Jackson. She put the pictures in order and then put Joseph in the pit.

She also colored his coat.  It was more of a "coat of many purples" rather than colors, but oh well.

Animal ABC's:
She still loves using 1+1+1=1's Animal ABC's worksheets.  We learned about the umbrella bird for this unit.  She was all about cutting for the cut and paste.

Another thing that she loves to do is create "rainbows", so for the 6 dots on the umbrella bird she used 6 different dot markers!

Tracing her shapes was really cute because she used her new scented markers to fill in the shapes after she traced them all.  Tracing...
...and smelling...
U is also for urchin.  Also, she's not a fan of getting glue on her fingers. ;)
Again, "rainbows" to trace letters and numbers, so these activities take FOREVER!

Letter U activities:
This was our first unit after the Christmas break, so I broke out the really fun activities - ha!  She was pretty excited to put tape on the floor in the shape of the letter U.  She walked, ran, jumped and skipped along the letter.
Letter sort - she's not to sure whether it's a lowercase or uppercase.  Color by number - She insisted that I find a color by number!

Miscellaneous:
Gift of Curiosity had these wonderful shape tracers that start with tracing the entire shape, then just a few points along the shape, and finally drawing the shape without help.  We tried to work on sharp points on the square and triangle.  We also used her "How Many ways can you make a shape" to make different triangles with our wooden blocks.
She really enjoyed these word puzzles.  I had forgotten all about them until I started cleaning out the girls' playroom after Christmas.  I scattered the letters all around and she had to hunt for them and say the letter.  I think we did at least 8 of the words.

Meredith also had a lot of fun using her new Kitty Hot Dots pen and cards.  We did several of the pattern cards and she loved hearing what the cat said when she got it right.  Afterwards, she always touched the wrong answer to hear the cat again. ;)

I think her favorite activity was using her new medicine droppers to mix colors!  First we made our primary colors.
Then we started mixing them - red and yellow...
...make orange.
Red and Blue make purple!

And finally, Blue and yellow...
make green.

Afterwards, I let her play with the droppers on a paper towel and she had a lot of fun with this!

After it dried, we had our own tie-died paper towel!
And finally, all of the paper stuff we did!
We just finished letter C and I'm trying to stay focused so that we can finish the alphabet just about the time Mackenzie' finishes school for the summer!  I never finished a full curriculum for letter of the week with Mackenzie, but I'm determined to finish with Meredith so here's hoping we stay on track!
