Blurb book/Social book

I have a ton of scrap booking supplies and have tried to scrapbook several times in the last 5 years, but I don't have a craft room, so I can't really keep it out for easy access.  So, my blog is my current scrapbook.  I have made books of my blog from 2007-2011 and 2012 is currently in the works.  I love this way of scrap booking since I blog about most of our activities and daily life that would be the same thing I'd do with an "old fashioned" scrapbook.

While my blog documents the majority of our life, some pictures and funny things the girls say are not always documented because I put them on Instagram or Facebook.  So, imagine my surprise and delight when I stumbled upon a company that makes books from your Facebook posts.  "Stumbled upon" meaning Facebook had an advertisement on my wall for this company. ;). Either way I clicked on the link and "created" a book.  It's super simple and they do all the work after you specify what all you want included.

I looked at the preview but didn't order a book yet.   They are a decent price, especially for a personal printed book, but I'm just not ready to by one right this minute.  I think I might wait until the end of the year and just wrap it in one big book (2008-2014).  You know me, I can't pass up an opportunity to document my family's life! ;)

new playground

Brandon and I bought the girls a new playset for the backyard.  The one we had previously was starting to rot and fall apart.  Brandon took a week off from work and spent several mornings and evening putting it together.  The girls were so excited to play on it when he was finished that they played barefoot and in their pajamas the first night!  The next night I took some pictures playing and enjoyed listening to them.

The playset has a toy phone, so Mackenzie ordered "peanut butter and jelly sandwiches - all homemade!" ;)  The small slide is apparently too fast for Meredith because she gets crooked while going down...

And lands in the grass EVERY time!

We also played on it one morning which I'm hoping becomes the standard on mornings we don't have anything else planned.
Miranda played with her own playset! ;)

I especially love that we put the playset in the middle of the yard so that I can see the girls from inside the house.  Here's to many memories with this playset!

Miranda is 10 months!

Another month - Miranda is 10 months old!  I've done pretty well about not planning too much about for Meredith and Miranda's birthday party at the end of the summer.  Sure I have a pinterest board, but who doesn't? ;)  I decided to wait until after VBS was over before I really got into the details for the party.  VBS ended yesterday, so now it's time to begin!  Only two more months!

Miranda is doing great and of course learning new things every day.  We reached a couple of milestones this month - teeth and army crawling.  I've even added soy to my diet about once a week and it doesn't seem to affect her too much.  Yesterday I even had 3 iced animal cookies (you know the really good pink and white ones) and I haven't noticed any issues, so hopefully the milk allergy is slowly going away.

At 10 months, Miranda

- nurses about 3 or 4 times a day and once or twice at night...unless we have a bad night.
- eats 2-3 meals of baby food a day and has liked everything except mixed vegetables.
- has started eating a few real solid food items and is learning to "chew/gum" her food.
- has one bottom tooth and I think the one next to it is about to come in.
- army crawls.
- wears 9-12 month clothing and the occasional 12-18 month outfit
- loves to bounce, wiggle and kick her legs around when you hold her or she gets excited.
- smiles and laughs at her sisters.
- very interested in jewelry and pulls at it any chance she gets.
- puts EVERYTHING in her mouth.
- "talks" to us more and more every day, but is generally not too vocal unless she's unhappy that I'm not holding her.  Then she screams at the top of her lungs until I pick her up.  The minute my hands are touching her she immediately stops.  She's ALL drama! ;)

As usual - comparison picture of all three girls at 10 months!

A day at Moshi & Gapa's

Visiting Moshi and Gapa's is so much fun! Especially since a sweet treat is ALWAYS provided! This time, freeze dried ice cream, aka Dippin' Dots. They've had them before, but didn't remember, so they really liked them this time.

Also, this was Flag Day, so my mom decorated the table accordingly! ;)

Two for three looking at the camera - not bad. ;)
Meredith was being silly while I was trying to take our picture.
She also had A LOT of energy at one point and ran circles around the living room while singing a song from one of her favorite tv shows.  If any of us laughed or talked, she went back to this corner and started all over again.  Not surprisingly, she had to start over a lot!
Miranda loved watching Meredith run around!
Singing and dancing...

Miranda's new thing...not really sucking her thumb, but putting it in her mouth and kind of gnawing on it.
My poor brother loves kids and babies, but unfortunately only Mackenzie was cooperative and hugged him without crying! ;)

Can't wait to go visit again and go swimming!

Friday Flashback: First swim

I looked for a photo from today when Mackenzie was a baby and this what we were doing on June 20th, 2009!

I was surprised to see Meredith wore the same suit for her first swim since she was so much bigger than the other girls, but sure enough - same suit and hat! She's happy by the way - LOVED the water and still does!

Miranda's first swim was a few weeks ago and wouldn't you know she wore the same outfit! ;)
Happy Friday!

Kiddie Pool

I've taken all three girls to the neighborhood pool three times this summer (including today).  They do great and love to go, but its a lot of work to get three girls dressed, sunscreened and pack everything just to go in the car 3 minutes to get to the pool.  Last year we went to the pool at least 2 times a week.  This summer my goal is once a week!  With that in mind, Brandon bough the girls a kiddie pool for our backyard so they can swim in the back yard with much less hassle than going to the big pool.  We pulled it out last week and the girls loved it!

Apparently this is how you float on your back when you aren't in a big pool! ;)
Here they were playing "swim lessons" and Mackenzie was the teacher (surprise, surprise).

We might have to pull it out again this weekend...

Preschool - K4: Letter D

We actually did "school" activities today and I realized I never blogged about our letter D activities for Mackenzie. I guess we were in a rut at the beginning of the year, because Mackenzie is back to liking the 1+1+1=1 - Raising Rock Stars curriculum. We don't do everything in each packet, but we do some of the sheets that I know she is going to enjoy. Plus, she knows she can just tell me she doesn't want to work on a specific sheet and we skip it. It's all about having fun, for me.

She gladly traced the verse for letter D...
And was super excited to color, cut and paste the craft from the Raising Rock Stars Preschool.  We did this activity when she was 3, but she doesn't remember.  Meredith also did this activity and it's posted on her tot school post

These two sheets were easy for her, but review never helps...big vs. small and letter sounds.

She LOVES to learn sign language, so this is always a big hit!  And following directions to color certain shapes is also a favorite.
I love her drawings.  Duck, dog, doll and I think the last one was a dice that she colored in.
Other activities we did (and I photographed) included number mazes from Confessions of a homeschooler.  She did one that was numbers 1-30 and another one that was numbers 30-50.  I have these laminated (and they are actually back to back) so that we can reuse them over and over.  She just liked that she was able to use the "special" markers. ;)
Also from COAH is the letter D hunt sheets I laminated last summer and counting cards (I can't seem to find these on her sight, so they must be part of the K4 curriculum I bought).  You may recall we used similar cards to count from 1-100 earlier in the year.  This time I pulled out the counting by 10's cards and she did great with that.  We haven't really worked on counting by 2's 5's or 10's, so this was a great exercise.

And finally, because Meredith had matched the color puzzles from 1+1+1=1, Mackenzie had to also!
We are finishing up Letter E this week, so I'm sure I'll blog about that by the end of the summer! Ha!
