Vacation to Fredericksburg

This past week we went on a mini vacation to see my parents' place in Fredericksburg.  We left Monday morning and got there about lunch time.  I'm not going to lie, it was not the greatest trip.  This was Meredith's longest trip in the car and while she did ok for the first half of the trip, it's safe to say that in the second half, she was no happy.  She slept for maybe 30-45 minutes of the 4 hour trip.  After all that "fun", we changed our plans coming back home and instead of leaving on Thursday morning, we left Wednesday night after dinner.  We got in the car at 5:15 and by 5:45, both girls were asleep! All was going well until we reached San Antonio traffic and Meredith woke up in the stop and go traffic.  She cried/screamed for a solid 15 minutes - it was horrible.  The funny thing (you have to search for it) is that Mackenzie slept through the entire screaming fit.  Didn't stir at all.  She also didn't even seem to notice when Brandon had to stop quickly and her head flopped forward.   She was TIRED!  Meredith finally went back to sleep and then when we got home she went right back to sleep and slept through the night!  OK, enough about the driving portion...onto the actual vacation.

After lunch on the first day, we all went out on the mule for a ride around the property.  Meredith really liked it.

In fact, she liked it so much, she spent some extra time "driving" it herself!
My mom also had some games for us to play while we were there.  I might need to work on some throwing skills with Mackenzie, since this is the only way she could get the ring on the post. ;)

Bubbles were also very popular!

The next morning it was pretty chilly, so the girls and I bundled up and played outside.

After naptime and a little shopping, we played outside again! ;)  Only this time, it was a little hot outside.  Meredith had no problem running around with a shirt, diaper and tennis shoes without socks.

One of my favorite pictures!
They really enjoyed playing in the gravel and on the porch.  Who knew you don't even have to have a playground for them to have fun?! ;)

The porch connects the main house with the kitchen, living/dining, bedroom and bathroom to the guest house with a bedroom, bathroom and sitting room.  The guest house was perfect for us and provided a place for Meredith to nap or go to bed without anyone bothering her.

The third and final date was a repeat weather day.  We bundled up in the morning and then didn't need jackets in the afternoon.  And once again, we also played outside for a large portion of the day.  I took a lot of pictures while we were there and got quite a few cute ones of the girls.

Sister love!
They aren't smiling, but it's still a cute close up of the two of them.

So, that was our first "vacation" that was more than a 24 hour trip and it went pretty well.  We have two more trips scheduled in the next 6 months, so this was our trial trip.  We now know what and what not to do for the next one!
