RRSP: Letter X

Last week we studied the letter X, the number 7, the site word "little", and the color pink.  Our memory verse was Matthew 18:3 - Except you be converted and become as little children, you shall not enter the kingdom of Heaven.

We did our letter collage and since X is such a hard letter to find beginning sounds for, I let her use my different scrapbooking letter X stamps and some pink ink.

I finally discovered how to get Mackenzie to color longer!  She loved this color by number from Confessions of a homeschooler.  She colored the entire picture - 9 different colors.  Coloring apparently needs to be a game for her.  Although it might also be that the numbers provide the structure and order that she always wants.  Either way, she colored an entire sheet - whoop!
Our extra craft this week was making a xylophone using the letter X.  This is her "playing" it, with her fingers. ;)
Always a letter sort:
When we sorted these pictures based on whether they made the /ks/ sound for the letter X, she was a little annoyed that the groups weren't even. (one had 7 pictures the other had 5)  Again, the structure and order...or maybe OCD. ;)

We also traced numbers (from Confessions of a Homeschooler):

We matched our capital and lowercase letters using little puzzle flashcards from 1+1+1=1:
I also pulled out a dry/erase book I found in the $1 bin at Michaels.  She loved the dot to dots and mazes.  Gotta love those dollar bins!

This week, we've already begun the letter V and we have some excellent hands on activities if the weather will cooperate on Thursday.  We shall see!
