3 firsts in 1 week

This week was full of firsts for Mackenzie. This past Sunday she went to Bible Class for the first time. I stayed in there and she did fine for most of the time. The only time she got a little fussy was because 2 other children were crying. It won't take long for her to realize, she has to be a little quicker when reaching for things. The older children were quick to take toys from the newbie! :)

Another first was her first bath in the big tub. I was waiting for her to be able to sit up fairly well before I moved to the big tub. After some of the stuff I read about babies getting scared of the vastness of the big tub and the sounds of the running water and drain, I was a little nervous, but she did great! In fact, she loves it. (Erin, you might notice something familiar in the corner of the picture.) She doesn't mind water in her face and she loves to try and grab at the floating ducks in the water.

Last, but not least was her first trip to the grocery store yesterday. Once again, I was waiting for her to be able to sit in the front of the grocery cart, so yesterday was our first trip. And again, she did great. I see many more trips in our future! :)

On another note, I picked up something special at Babies R Us when we were there yesterday. It's nice to know that Mackenzie's name isn't so unusual that she won't be able to find things with her name on them. Don't get me wrong, I love my name, but I've never had anything that had my name on it, unless it was especially made for me. They didn't have her name on a sippy cup, but they did on this cup. It's not something she'll use any time soon, but we'll use it eventually.

Tastes good...but looks bad on me.

I don't smoke, drink or do drugs. However, I am addicted to these things:

The day I found out I was pregnant, I stopped drinking DP and didn't have another one until well into my maternity leave. Since going back to work, I've had one every day! Why can't I have the will power I had when I was pregnant? My excuse is, "I'm not a coffee drinker, so this is my daily caffeine." While this is true, I'm pretty sure I could survive without the caffeine and empty calories!

This is just a picture of chocolate chip cookies, but it stands for cookies of almost any kind, along with baked goods. I know I've said this before, but while I was pregnant I ate a Little Debbie snack every single day. Why can't this be the opposite of my DP problem - not eat them (baked goods) now that I'm not pregnant?

So, the queso represents chips/dips. I don't like salsa and chips, I prefer the queso, onion dip, french onion know, the really fattening kind! For this one I have better restraint at home because I don't want to make it, but at restaurants, I have to order it!

I'm not saying I want to completely stop eating all of these things, but I wish I didn't feel addicted to them. Maybe just an occasional glass of DP or desserts only at Life Groups on Sunday. While they are not tobacco, alcohol or drugs, they can still harm my body or at least make not as nice/thin as it could be! Maybe I just need to realize that while they taste good, they make me (my body) look bad! Will power...will power...will power!

6 months

I cannot believe Mackenzie is already 6 months old! Time flies so quickly...soon we'll be having her first birthday!

Wednesday we went to the doctor for her check up and shots. She did great once I held her for a minute or two. Here are her stats:
16 lbs 9 oz - 60 percentile
26.5 inches - 75 percentile

I realize I never have posted any pictures of her eating but that's because she's a really good eater and we haven't found a food that she dislikes - including prunes which we tried for obvious reasons! :) She like solids foods so much, we actually had to cut her back to 1 meal a day because she wasn't drinking her bottles. She eats oatmeal, sweet potatoes, squash, carrots, green beans, bananas, pears & apparently prunes! Foods still to try: peas, peaches and applesauce. I want to be the one who feeds her her new foods, so we'll have to wait until she's eating a second meal at night before we try those last 3 foods. If it's like the others, she should have no problem.

In the last week she has really started become more active. She is no longer content to lean back against you when she's sitting in your lap unless she's tired. (Church should be interesting tomorrow!) She sits in your lap and bounces, moves her legs and arms. She's sitting on her own for longer periods of time. She's reaching for more and more things with in arms length. This morning Brandon was holding her and picked up a picture to show her and she got a hold of it and bent it a little. Not that that is a big deal, it just shows us that things are changing! :)

She talks a lot - especially when she's in her exersaucer or playing on the floor. The daycare says she loves to talk and I just say she takes after me! :) We were able to get her to say something very close to Da Da the other day, so we were both pretty excited.

Her hair is getting a little longer. Not long enough to put in a pony tail by any means, but since Brandon and I aren't bow people, I can't wait for her hair to get a little longer so I can put it in little clips/barrettes.

So, kind of a rambling post, but what can I say, I love to talk - especially about Mackenzie! Here is her 6 month photo from this morning - note that she did not lean back against the couch - she wants none of that!

Mackenzie and her tongue!

Mackenzie's new thing this week is sticking out her tongue.

However, she doesn't seem to care too much when someone sticks their tongue out at her!

New Camera - Awesome Pictures

For my birthday, Brandon bought me a digital SLR camera. I absolutely love it and have taken about 150 pictures in 5 days! Below are some of my favorites.
