Elephants...Elephants...Elephants

To continue Mackenzie's elephant collection and to try and clear her congestion, we bought this:

By the time she's 1, we'll need a separate room for all of the elephants!

we are on a roll!

Can I just say how happy I am that Mackenzie has slept through the night 2 nights in a row! Hopefully, she'll continue that pattern!

Random Pictures

For all of those interested, I've posted some random pictures from the last 2 weeks.

This is how Mackenzie "plays" when the TV is on.

I think the TV was probably on this time as well! :)

4 months

This is for my Granny & Papa - notice the John Deer socks!

We decided to put Mackenzie in her swing the other night while we ate dinner. I think she liked it! :)

Apparently, she doesn't know how to retrieve a toy once she loses hold of it! :)

Mackenzie's stats at 4 months:

Length: 25" - 75th percentile
she's longer/taller than 75 percent of children her age

Weight: 14 lbs - 50th percentile
weighs more than 50 percent of children her age

We've been given the go ahead on starting solid foods, so this weekend we attempt rice cereal. Stay tuned for pictures in the upcoming weeks.

As I've mentioned before, Mackenzie doesn't like her carrier/car seat. Because of this, Brandon and I haven't taken her to any restaurants because one of us would have to hold her the whole time. With this in mind, we decided to venture out today so we could take Brandon's dad out to celebrate his birthday. We took her bumbo seat and requested a booth and all of us had a very nice lunch! I held her while we waited for our food and the whole time she was looking at everything and taking it all in. Like I said, besides school, church, the doctor and family functions she hasn't really been out of the house too much. When our food came I put her in her bumbo seat next to me and she sat there smiling at all of us while we ate! I'm very encouraged and cannot wait to get back into eating out again and not having to order everything to go! :) When she can sit up on her own, then she can use the high chairs at restaurants, but until then we'll use the bumbo seat. For those of you who don't know what a bumbo seat is, I'm attaching a picture of her in hers about a week or two ago.

Learning to fall asleep on her own and a new bunny blanket from Rhonda makes for some cute pictures!

Last Day

Today is my last day of Maternity Leave. :( I'm not counting this weekend because, well it's a weekend. You would think for my last day of maternity leave I would want to spend it with Mackenzie, but she is actually at day care right now. Since we started paying for full time care today, we thought she should go full time and get use to being there for longer than 3-4 hours. I dropped her off at 8:30 and I'll probably pick her up about 5. Next week she'll be dropped off between 6:30 and 7:30 and picked up between 5:30 and 6:30, so her days will be considerably longer! I'm really going to miss seeing her all the time and being at home, but I love my job and am looking forward to going back to work.

For my last day, I planned to go shopping at Macy's and use some gift cards I had, but as you know, when you have money and time, you can never find anything you want to buy! I was there for 30-45 minutes and found 2 tops that somewhat interested me, but not enough to buy. Oh well, I guess I'll just wait for the spring/summer clothes to arrive and I'll go shopping then. After my bust at shopping I went back home to pick up Brandon and we had lunch, went to the outlet mall and the grocery store. It was nice to have some time together and not have to worry about when Mackenzie's next bottle is or if we have to be somewhere at a certain time.

I know this was kind of random, but if you remember, think of me on Monday. As much as I am looking forward to going to work on Monday, seeing Mackenzie for only a few hours a day is going to take some getting use to!

Christmas

I hope everyone had as good a Christmas as we did. We were here for Christmas Day and went to Dallas the day after. Mackenzie did so well on the way up there and back. It probably helps that I sat in the back seat with her the whole time. :) As expected Mackenzie received a lot of stuff. She received quite a few gifts from me and Brandon. I think we went a little overboard! In our defense, we used almost all gift cards when buying her stuff, so we didn't actually spend too much of our own money! (Thank you to anyone and everyone who sent us gift cards after Mackenzie was born!) Next year will be different, but I'm sure we'll still manage to go overboard! :)

I love Christmas not because you get to exchange gifts, but in our case, you get to see family that you haven't seen in a while. Mackenzie got to meet several members of both sides of the family for the first time. My aunt, uncle and cousin had not Mackenzie until Christmas Day. My cousins daughter (5 years old) was interested in Mackenzie and I told her next year, Mackenzie would most likely be following her around. Brandon's brothers had also not met Mackenzie, so the trip to Dallas was really exciting. She was not at a loss of people wanting to hold her. In fact, I think on Sunday night she was so excited when I layed her down on the couch and no one was holding her. She was very content for at least half an hour just lying there on her stomach or back. We even got her to laugh a couple of times this past weekend. It's not a regular event yet, so it's really funny and cute. Maybe I'll catch it on video soon and post it. Without further ado, here are the pictures you've been waiting for!

Mackenzie's loot from me and Brandon!

Mackenzie's loot from the rest of her family.

Mackenzie with my mom/her "Moshi"

Mackenzie with Papa (her great grandfather)

My sister-in-law Virginie enjoying her Christmas bow. It kind of reminds me of the Friends episode where Phoebe gets humus on her dress and covers it up with a huge Christmas bow.

My sister-in-law Aubrey enjoying her ice cream maker we bought her.

Lacie and her son Lincoln (really good friends of the family)

Brandon's youngest brother Dustin holding Mackenzie. She was too busy checking things out in the new surroundings to turn around for a picture.
