It's time to vote!

Two weeks from today we will find out if the baby is a boy or girl! Are you as excited/anxious as we are? I decided to add a voting pole for all of you bloggers to see what you think we are having. I think I know how several people are going to vote, but I'm curious to see what everyone else thinks! For the record, I have no gut feeling about what we are having. Since this is our first child, I don't have anything to compare it to. I didn't pay attention to how my step-sisters' carried my nephews, so I don't know if I'm carrying similar to them or not. The one thing I do know is that Brandon and I were able to instantly agree on a boy's name, but a girls name is yet to be determined! Does that mean it's a girl? :) I guess we'll find out in 2 weeks! Please vote - the question isn't too terribly hard and you have a 50/50 chance! :)

Happy Anniversary!

Today is my parents' 22nd anniversary and I want to wish them a wonderful day! On April 26th, 1986 Tom Haag married Marsha Cook...

...That day I gained 2 sisters and a year later a new brother! As every family does, we've had good times and bad times, but overall the last 22 years have been great! I wish my parents a wonderful anniversary and another 22 years of marriage! I love you!

5 Favorite Candies

Since a couple of my friends have posted their 5 favorite candies (Holly and Marcia), I thought I'd post my favorites! Mine, however are in order...

1. M&M's (plain or peanut or dark chocolate) - I probably would eat all the different types of M&M's but these 3 are my favorite.

2. Mr. Goodbar - I love this candy bar! It technically is listed twice (see #4) but that's because its so great and simple.

3. Whatchamacallit - I ate one of these almost every day my freshman year at A&M and surprisingly did NOT gain the dreaded "freshman 15"! If I picked up that habit now, it would be a different story! :)

4. Hersheys Miniatures - Milk, Dark, Crunch, Mr. Goodbar - When eating these, I have to have at least 1 of each per serving. Otherwise you're not taking the full advantage of the variety pack!

5. Reeses Pieces - I never think to buy these any other time except around easter - not sure why!

Next post...5 favorite Little Debbie snacks! :) Can you tell I'm hungry?!

Every Spring my office has a bowling tournament. Brandon and I have gone the past 2 years and this year was no exception. For those of you who might be worried about me bowling while pregnant...I asked my doctor if it was okay on our first appointment when I was only 7 1/2 weeks and I didn't even know when the tournament was. I asked again at my last appointment and she said it was no problem.

Our company is serious about our bowling and golf tournaments. When you sign up you give your average and then the organizer names team captains based on these scores. I was actually a team captain this year even though I said my average was only 100 - I'm still not sure how this is right. Anyways, a few days before the tournament, the team captains get together and have a "draft" where we pick the remainder of our team.

Last year, Brandon and I bowled with another couple and we came in first place! We won those fancy medals and trophies you see above! :) This year Brandon and I didn't do quite as well...we placed 12th out of 13! :) I'm pretty sure the other couple from last year carried us when we one last year because this year their team came in 2nd place. Even though we did horible, we still had lots of fun! Pictures below:

I just want to say that this is my favorite pillow right now. My friend is letting me borrow this pillow during my pregnancy and I love it! I know it looks very strange, but it has made my past 2 nights of sleep much better than the past few weeks! Thanks Jodi!

The Ironing Curse

My mom irons everything! When I still lived at home, my mom used to iron in her bedroom on Saturdays or Sundays while watching movies and I sometimes joined her to watch the movies. My dad and brother would leave us alone for those couple of hours and we could watch whatever romance/girlie movie we wanted. In college I ironed as I needed to, but since Brandon and I have been married I have inherited the ironing curse! On Saturdays or Sundays, I grab my netflix movies and head to the bedroom where the ironing board is set up and start ironing and watching my movies. As with my mom, Brandon doesn't usually interupt me while ironing and I can watch any of my old classics I want. During the first trimester, I was so exhausted that I only ironed what needed to be ironed for the week. Because of this, I never really caught up on the ironing and this is what it looked like on Saturday after all the laundry was finished:

It's amazing to me that we can have this many clothing items waiting to be ironed and our closets still look like this:

I think each of us could have gone several more weeks without having any shirts ironed! I think, just maybe, that it might be time for us to clean out our closets! :) Does anyone else, besides my mom and I, have the ironing curse?

Belly Pics

Since several people have are my belly pics from 12 and 16 weeks. I'll try and wear the same shirt everytime we take the photo, but I can't promise anything, since the shirt is not even a maternity shirt.

The End of the World

For any of you who really know me, know that I am a very emotional person. I cry when I'm sad, happy, mad, runs in the family, we just cry to release our emotions. When I found out I was pregnant I was a little concerned about if my hormones/emotions would go into overdrive and Brandon would think I'm crazier than he already thinks I am. So far it hasn't been bad. I don't think I've really over-reacted to too many things. Besides the microwave incident, I don't think I've been any different than I was pre-pregancy. For all I know, Brandon might feel differently, but for the past 4 months everything has been pretty good...that is until Sunday when it became clear to me (in my pregnancy mind) that it was the-end-of-the-world! :) On Sunday evening about 8:00 I walked into our bedroom and realized that I hadn't finished the laundry for the day. For any other normal person, this wouldn't be a big deal, but for pregnant Charlton, this was huge! I started to think about all that I needed to do around the house and then the tears started. Not just a few tears, but sobbing - what's that about? I told Brandon that I needed to take Monday off so that I could clean and get all of my errands done. He said he didn't really think that was necessary since I should be saving my vacation time for after the baby came and that the house was just fine. This triggered even more tears about how I was going to get "everything" cleaned AND work full time AND study for my exams AND prepare for a baby. WOW - can we say crazy?! To make a long story well, still long...I cried for about an hour, went to work on Monday and Brandon cleaned the house on Monday morning since he was off that day. I feel wonderful now and I can laugh at the whole situation, but at that time I felt completely overwhelmed and everything to me was truly horrible! I hope that this instance is the only crazy moment I have during this pregnancy, but seeing as I still have 5 1/2 months left, I'm pretty sure there will many more to come! :) Hopefully Brandon will continue to be patient with me like he was on Sunday - he told me the only things I needed to do were: study for my exams, iron (because he's horrible at it) and keep our baby healthy! What a wonderful husband! :)

50th Anniversary

I'm finally blogging again! The last couple of weeks, I've been working on my picture slide show for my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary. I also haven't really had much to say. :) My grandparents "Golden Celebration" was great! I got to spend time with friends and family I hadn't seen in a while, so that was really fun. My mom said a few words about my grandparents, my aunt told the story of my grandparents elopement in 1958 and I presented a slideshow of pics from the last 50 years. I had so much fun looking through all the old photos of my grandparents. If I can figure out how to post the slideshow online, I'll upload it soon. For the time being, I have a few pics from the party. Enjoy!

"Granny & Papa" cutting the cake.

Our entire family - Brandon is staring at his feet for some reason. :)

My immediate family - Brandon, Me, Papa, Granny, Ryan (my brother), Marsha & Tom (aka Momma and Daddy)
